H1N1 has…

hit our household.  DD came home from school yesterday with it.  I think she was actually exhibiting symptoms the night before but she wouldn’t stay home from school because of a history test she needed to complete.

So, she came home with all the classic symptoms.   Cough, nasal congestion, low grade fever 0f 100.7, chills and body aches.   Now, H1N1 is pandemic in our communities around as well as seasonal flu… so we’re getting pretty hard hit by it.

However, hope arrived this morning in the form of this.

7:30 this morning

Backyard at 7:30 this morning

This was what it looked like when I got up this morning.   My bopplin —sorry I’ve been reading too many books based in Amish country and I like their German-Deutsch words…lol — are still in bed and that’s where I want them to be in order to get better.   I’m hoping this snow which is forecasted to be up to 5″ before it’s done and the 18 degrees outside will put an end to the H1N1 and seasonal flus going around here.

Because DD is type 1 diabetic and at risk for complications, the doctor put her on Tamiflu.   Now, I thought this was just to shorten the duration of the flu, which it does but the doctor told me last night it’s to help prevent complications like pneumonia.

No one dies from H1N1… it’s the complications that have been the issue.  Of the 31 deaths that have occurred here in the United States 70% were expected because the H1N1 hit those with compromised immune systems in end-stage diseases, such as muscular sclerosis. … etc.  If you’re a healthy individual, you should do well with just symptomatic treatment… keep those hot fluids going … they’ll help a lot.  Take vitamin B, Zinc and C to help boost your immune system.

Well, here’s hoping this is the last we see and/or hear of that nasty bug in our house.

Oh and btw… there’s only a few days left to win that rustic wood painting.. if you want a chance to win go to the giveaways page to see what it is and leave me a comment, post it on your blog, facebook, etc.  ..October 14th is the deadline.

Until next time… love God, love others and keep away from the flu….!
